Time for a change … using Kaspersky

I have been happily paying for and using AVG anti virus software programs for years now. However, the free trial period ran out last week on this HP laptop and rather stay with the nightmare Norton anti virus program I opted to try Kaspersky anti virus 2010.

Don’t know if I’ll see any differences but Kaspersky has always been very highly rated, as has AVG.

Anything untoward happens and you’ll certainly hear about it.

Well, here's what happened.

I installed Kaspersky on my HP laptop and all was well ... until Bill Bates III got involved. I wonder if Bill Gates' father is proud of him by the way.

I chose to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 since HP was offering an excellent deal. The disc arrived and I set the whole thing going. It took a long time but was an easy thing to do.

BUT, once I'd rebooted the final time, there was a message waiting for me:

we have uninstalled Kaspersky for you ... sort it out yourself ...

I inserted my Kaspersky disc and installed it again. Now for the fun part, for which I am partly to blame: contributory negligence lawyers call it.

Unusually for me I did not keep a note of the serial number and unusually for me I did not register my Kaspersky software online. Well, I am convinced I did but Kaspersky says not.

So, after a few emails to Kasperky's support team I was left with no option but to buy it all over again. Not expensive but who is so rich they can keep doing such things.

For Bill Gates: who are you to ruin something that I have bought and rely on? Who are you NOT to advise me that you were going to do that to me when I COULD have done something about it? Are you going to reimburse me for the losses I have suffered?

We all know the answers to these questions.

The sooner I migrate to Apple the better it will be.
