VAT and Politicians

Have you seen this week’s utter nonsense in Parliament?

The government is cutting VAT from Monday next and the opposition party among others said, no, no, no, bad idea.

Then someone leaked or accidentally announced that the government CONSIDERED raising VAT at some time in the future. The cry was, no, no, no, bad idea.

These stupid people.

Tax is a lovely beast. I remember VAT going up 2.5% in the last recession, as a temporary measure. I can see the statement in 2011, VAT to rise to 18.5% or 19%. To give the tories their due they didn't have the pomposity to delay such an important announcement until all possible cameras and microphones were in place like Brown and Darling. If a VAT cut is so important then surely that can be enacted in a simple statement weeks ago. I am very worried that the World's leaders want us all to keep borrowing and the banks are saying er.. thanks for the cash but it was all the lending that did for us.

You are right about the borrowing nonsense. Keep spending lads ... we'll make sure the banks survive even if you don't!!
