The Art of Testing Perfume
How does one aim a bottle of perfume at a tester card without spraying perfume all over both hands thus making an informed judgement impossible?

Where did they find these people?
I am watching a cookery channel and there was a programme with a "chef" who made pastry. I have never seen anyone man handle pastry so much.
Moreover, he made shortcrust pastry and insisted on calling it flaky: nothing like it.
Then a woman came on and spoke large about her sticky buns: Chelsea buns ... They looked ghastly. Misshapen and out of control!!. She kept saying how much Michael liked them. Then we saw Michael ... the size of a barrage balloon!!

The Flight ... how are the nerves?
So, the flight from Geneva to Dubai is a bit late but so far only 40 minutes or so. If it stays that way all is well.
I got on the plane and got settled. Then the purser was passing by and, without the usual sheaf of notes, he said, welcome on board Mr Duncan! A Marriott Moment! This happened to me as i took Emirates from Riyadh a few weeks ago. I was the first to board that time and the stewardess at the door recognised my name and started welcoming, chatting, suggesting i could change seats ... this is good because this year i am VERY gold!!
I was then treated like royalty for the rest of the flight from Geneva. Every member of the crew in our cabin at least said hello!
Then again, the Emirates flight from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur: no recognition at all ... not the merest hint of it. The worst part of that was that i saw the purser going round the cabin handing out fast track cards to other gold card holders as we were preparing to land but he never got to me, leading to a 40 minute waiting time for passport control as opposed to the fast track two minutes.

Cottage Cheese for Breakfast
The last two hotels i have stayed in have served cottage cheese as part of their breakfast buffet and it goes really well with fresh fruit ...

Nerves are Jangling!
My hotel room overlooks the runway at Geneva Airport: hence the photos coming your way!
My flight tomorrow is on Emirates and as I took photos this afternoon from my window I regretted that I had missed the equivalent flight for today: take off time, 14:20 hours. Beggar me, at 16:00 hours I saw what I was sure was an Emirates tail fin ... I checked and found that EK090 was going to take off about 2.5 hours late.
In fact, EK090 took off about three hours late. The point is that I have three hours between flights at Dubai ... I am now feeling nervous given the number of close shaves I have been having with Emirates of late: including being offloaded last week.

Watch Where You Have Your Laundry Done!
I am on an extended trip so must have my shirts laundered by someone other than me!
I had a few done in Doha last week and that was fine.
I just had some shirts laundered here in Geneva ... the charge per shirt is more than I paid for some of the shirts themselves!! I was shocked.
Think carefully before you end up paying off the National Debt to have your shirts washed and ironed!!

Naughty Chair?
Boy did i get the naughty chair.
easyJet from Gatewck to Geneva. I refused all extra charges except baggage. I am now squeezed into seat 30A, a seat built for a child.
This is against my human rights.
The Gatwick Express was stopped by signal failure etc so my plans for waiting in the lounge were ruined. I was so late in the end that i had no time for anything, not even to buy water.
Hoping for a decent flight

No Names, No Pack Drill But You Can Stick It!!
Whilst visiting one of the richest countries in the world, I stayed at a good, four star, hotel. In my room there were coffee making things. You might be surprised to see what passes for a spoon in these parts, however!

Whoops! I did it again!
I was unhappy with the photos of the sun I took last night so I went back again and this evening. I was a BIT more successful but nowhere near as good as the very first photo of the sun I took ... sun spots and all.
Judge for yourself. I hope you like the other photos too ... including a revised version of last night's photo of me in a lift: I changed the settings for that one too and it looks better.
